She grew up in Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1958. Corinne then worked for Garst Seed. On July 2, 1959, Corinne was united in marriage with Jerald J. South in St. Joseph, Missouri. Five children were born to this union. Corinne was first and foremost a mother and homemaker. For the last 20-plus years, she was the office manager for Harris Hess. Corinne was a member of the Annunciation Church and was active in the Guild. She also held memberships in the CU TTT, Garden Club and was a hospice volunteer. Corinne was an excellent cook and baker and loved working with her hands. Many of the activities she enjoyed include: knitting, crocheting, sewing, woodworking, cake decorating and making stained glass, hollyhock dolls, Christmas decorations and gingerbread houses. Corinne strived to learn and would take classes to improve her skills, particularly computer business software applications. She seemed to do anything for anyone, and if you were hungry when you left her house it was your own fault. On Tuesday, June 30, 2009, Corinne died at her home near Coon Rapids, Iowa, following a year-long battle with cancer. She was 69 years old. Corinne is survived by her husband Jerald South; four daughters: Tonya Annear and husband Mike; Tamara Bonney and husband Denny; Toshia Garnes and husband Ivyl; Tia Vaux and husband Doug; a son Justin South and wife Randa; nine grandchildren: Kyler and wife Sara, Coby and wife Megan, Jessi, Zachery, Jimmy, Cassandra, Alex, Ely and Cooper; their “adopted” daughter Rhonda and her girls Courtney and Lauren; a great-granddaughter Summer; a great-grandson Peyton; three sisters: Charlotte Jacobsen and husband Jack; Rayoma Rotert and Linda Doran and husband Joe; a brother-in-law Tom South; and by other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter Hayden South; and her brother-in-law Harry Rotert.
