Connie J. Cain

Connie Joan Cain, age 63, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the First Christian Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Ben Ramirez officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. on Monday until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Lois Shirbourn and Sam and Corrine Cretsinger will sing “In the Garden”. Burial will be in the Orange Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Casket bearers will be Dave Bowman, Wilts Cretsinger, Dr. David Saggau, Jon Cretsinger, Stuart Cretsinger, Ethan Cretsinger, and Gavin Cretsinger. Born on July 3, 1947 at Waterloo, Iowa, she was the daughter of George and Madeline (Cretsinger) Beilke. She attended grade school in Des Moines and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1966. Following high school she enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant Program at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll and worked at the hospital from 1967 until 1972. She also worked for New Hope Village, Brown’s Nursing Home in Coon Rapids, and as a private duty nursing assistant. She was married to Frank Cain Sr. in 1992 in their home in Carroll. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carroll. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, reading, watching television, hooking rugs, and she was the lead singer and tambourine player in two bands in her younger years. Connie has lived at the Carroll Health Center since 2007. Surviving are two step children: Frank Cain Jr. and his wife Melanie of Madison, Wisconsin, and Robin Wing and her husband Steve of Omaha, Nebraska; and several cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 2003, and a brother Gary.
