Coleen was born in Dana, Iowa on September 21,1935, in the family home.  She was the daughter of Raymond and Eileen (Grivey) Hamilton and the sister of Judy, Bill, Dixie and Jerry Hamilton.

Coleen was married to Bill Esdohr on June 5, 1953, and they farmed the family farm outside of Scranton and in Carroll County. Coleen lived in Germany for one year with Bill who was serving in the Army. After Bill was discharged from the military, they moved back to Iowa and continued farming the family farm.  In 1962, Coleen graduated from the Burnell School of Cosmetology in Fort Dodge, Iowa and owned and operated her beauty salon for over 40 years in Scranton.  Bill & Coleen adopted 3 boys, John, David & Michael, November 1, 1965, from the Des Moines Childrens Home.   All 3 boys were biological siblings. Over the years Coleen taught the boys to fish and trap muskrats and was also fond of traveling. They spent 2 weeks each year in Florida at Christmas time and one week a year at Lake Okoboji for some summer fun and boating. Coleen and Bill took many other trips as well throughout their lifetimes and enjoyed swimming in the pool at their home.

Coleen later worked at Oscar Mayer in Perry, American Home Shield Insurance in Carroll and finally retired at 72 years of age. If that weren’t enough, she later worked at a call center in Jefferson for the Republican Party until she was 78. Coleen was an active member in the United Methodist Church for 70 years and was on the UMW and helped with VBS and luncheons at the church throughout her lifetime.  Coleen & Bill would have been married 70 years on June 5, 2023.

Coleen was preceded in death by: William “Bill” Esdohr (husband), Alexander, Aaron & Caleb Esdohr (grandsons), Dixie Johnson (sister), Danny Johnson (brother-in-law), Janice Hamilton (sister-in-law).

Coleen is survived by:  John Esdohr (son), David Esdohr (son), Michael (son) & Brenda Esdohr, Bill Hamilton (brother), Judy (sister) Ron Lewis, Jerry Hamilton (brother), Dick & Delores (sister-in-law) Finch, six grandchildren: Jessika Storm (Phil), Jenna Johnson (Matt), Justin Esdohr (Jenna), Ryan Esdohr (Abigale), Cory Esdohr (Heather), and Elizabeth Esdohr & four step-grandchildren, Brea Chaplin, Ashley DeMaris, Ali Stringer & Cory Johnson along with numerous great-grandchildren.
