Clyde Ivan Samples

Clyde Samples, age 93, of Winona, Missouri and formerly of the Scranton - Coon Rapids area passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Birch Tree Place in Birch Tree, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Rick Hamilton of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden officiating. Following the service there will be a Masonic Memorial Service by Signet Masonic Lodge #264 A.F. and A.M. of Carroll. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Casket bearers will be members of the Carroll Masonic Lodge. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors by the Carroll American Legion. Born on January 25, 1921 at Hunter, Missouri, he was the son of William C. and Bertha Mae (Sheets) Samples. He grew up in Eastwood, Missouri where he attended school. He served in the United States Army from 1942 – 1944. He was married to Dorothy Rungee on May 29, 1942 in Maryville, Missouri. Clyde worked as a carpenter and later became a Southern Baptist Minister. He served congregations in the Winona and Mountain View, Missouri area. He was a member of the Eminence Masonic Lodge #607 A.F. and A.M. of Eminence, Missouri. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Clyde is survived by his wife Dorothy of Birch Tree, Missouri; a sister Mae Shockley of Winona, Missouri; a brother Merle Samples of Ellisnore, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Barney, George, Sam, Terry, Jimmy, and William and two sisters: Maxine and Vivian.
