Clayton H. Dohse, age 87, of Carroll and formerly of Westside passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Born on May 27, 1921 near Westside he was the son of W.T. and Alice (Jensen) Dohse. He was a lifelong resident of Westside, Iowa until moving to Carroll in 1996. He graduated from Westside High School in 1938. Clayton was married to Maxine Bauer on February 4, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. The couple farmed nearly all their married life south of Westside. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family. Surviving are a son Dr. Craig Dohse and his wife Meredith of Humble, Texas; three grandsons: Shea Dohse and his wife Katrina of Kingwood, Texas, Seth Dohse and his wife Heather of Kingwood, Texas, Christian Dohse of Corpus Christi, Texas; two great grandchildren: Elijah and Emma; two step granddaughters: Mercedes Davis and Meagan Fifer both of Humble, Texas; a sister Anita Groen of Denison, Iowa; and a sister-in-law Betty Bauer of Humble, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2001, a daughter Marsha Dohse in 1969, two infant children: Robin and Shawna, and a brother Reed Dohse. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastors David Anthony and Brian Licht officiating. Friends may call after 5:00 P.M. on Monday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday to lie in state until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Dr. Craig Dohse, Shea Dohse, Seth Dohse, Christian Dohse, Steven Groen, Terry Dohse, and Tom Dohse. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery.
