Christopher "Chris" Bruce Thompson

Christopher “Chris” Bruce Thompson, age 47, of Lanesboro, IA, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 19, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Glidden with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating.  Organist for the service will be Mary Ross and soloist will be Carl Wilburn.  Casket bearers will be Mike Rath, Andy Reiman, Steve Shipley, Ernie Schmeiser, Dean Wirtz and Lynn Boyd.  An honor guard will be formed by the Lanesboro, Glidden, and Lake City Fire Departments.  Burial will be in the Lanesboro Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Glidden from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday.  Additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 A.M. – 10:15 A.M. on Monday prior to the service.

Chris, affectionately known by many as “T”, was born on December 23, 1973 in Pocahontas, IA, and he was the son of Bruce and Shirley (Stucky) Thompson.  He grew up in Laurens and was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church.  Chris attended Laurens-Marathon School until the 11 ^th grade when his family moved to Glidden.  He graduated from Glidden-Ralston High School in 1992.  He attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville and then worked for the City of Glidden and Paul and Wayne’s in Carroll. Chris has worked at Carroll Glass for over 25 years.  He served on the Lanesboro, Glidden, and Lake City Fire Departments.  He was an avid golfer and belonged to the Lake City Country Club and Men’s Golf League.  Chris enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was a member of Pheasants Forever.    He loved his family and will be dearly missed by all the lives he touched.

Chris is survived by his children: Caleb Thompson of Lacona, IA, Trypp Thompson of Lake City, and Dalton Payer (Jacquelyn) and their son Marley of Spencer; his parents Bruce and Shirley Thompson of Lanesboro; his sister Cari O’Brien (Gary Schenkelberg) of Carroll; two nieces Morgan Kramer (Brandon) and their children Clay, Presley, and Levi of Lanesboro and Madi Sundblad (Luke) of Lake City; a nephew Mitch O’Brien of Auburn; his special friend Sherri Steinkamp of Carroll; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents: Sam and Doris Stucky and Alfred and Zella Thompson.
