Cherie was born on August 1, 1983 in Storm Lake, IA, and was the daughter of Paul and Linda (Godbersen) Dern. She was baptized on August 21, 1983 at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, IA, and she was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden, IA, on April 26, 1998. She attended Glidden-Ralston Schools and graduated in 2002. During these years, she was an all-around athlete and enjoyed her time with friends and family. She also found the love of her life and soul mate, Jason. Cherie then attended DMACC in Ankeny where she earned a degree in Graphic Design. After graduation she started working at ING in Des Moines, from there she was employed at Quebecor in Waukee, and ended her career being an amazing in-home daycare provider to many.
Cherie began dating her husband, Jason W. Rohrbeck, in 8th grade and never looked back. They were united in marriage on April 22, 2006 at Peace Lutheran church in Glidden by Pastor Alan Miller. They were blessed with two amazing children, Caden (13), and Kyleigh (10). Their family bond was incredible, and Cherie treasured all the memories and moments they had together.
Cherie was sweet, kind hearted, and a loving person who was an inspiration to all. She always had a genuine smile to make others feel better. She showed love, strength, and determination in the power of her smile. Her personality was always bossy, bright, and bubbly along with her sarcastic and witty nature. She treasured her husband and two children dearly and would go above and beyond; making her the best mother and wife. She was the family organizer and kept her house immaculate. She had a strong passion for taking pictures, scrapbooking, shopping for the best deals, getting her nails done, buying Lululemon, peanut M&Ms, eating Mexican, volunteering on the Dallas Center-Grimes school PTO, and being extremely competitive. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. They spent many days and nights hanging out at the shop, taking rides in their Mustang, going out to eat, attending her children’s sporting events and activities, watching movies, and leaving a lifelong impact on all who knew her.
Cherie is survived by her husband, Jason, her son, Caden, her daughter, Kyleigh, of Granger, IA; her parents Paul and Linda Dern of Glidden, IA; brother Tyler Dern and his wife, Alanna, of Urbandale, IA; her father and mother-in-law, Monty and Becky Rohrbeck of Glidden, IA; brother and sister-in-law Tyler and Jen Rohrbeck, nephews Landon and Colton and niece, Alexa, all of Glidden, IA; her grandmother-in-law Lois Rohrbeck of Carroll, IA; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
