Charlotte Gertrude Tigges, age 78, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Tuesday where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30P.M. by Holy Spirit Parish. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 8:30 A.M. on Wednesday, where visitation will resume until the time of the service. Gift bearers will be Betty Tigges, Lori Tigges, and Dion Hamer. Lectors for the Mass will be Isaac Evans and Olivia Tomka. Mass servers will be Parker Badding and Jared Tigges and Eucharistic Minister will be Vince Gross. Casket Bearers will be Kyle Bauer, Nicole Bauer, Alec Daniel, Haley Hamer, Hunter Daniel, Jeff Riesenberg, Krista Tigges, and Carly Tigges. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Organist for the Mass will be Barb McDermott and music will be by the Holy Spirit Choir. Born June 5, 1936 in Carroll, she was the daughter of Frank and Frances (Kanne) Wegner. Charlotte grew up in Carroll and attended St. Peter and Paul and St. Angela’s Academy. She worked for Thomas Cleaners and HR Cleaners prior to raising her family. She was united in marriage to Ivan Tigges on November 25, 1961 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Loeffelholz officiating. Charlotte enjoyed fishing, crocheting, gardening, cooking and watching baseball. She also especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ivan of Carroll; her children Calvin Tigges (Betty) of Carroll, Craig Tigges (Lori) of Mt. Carmel, Renee Daniel (Craig) of Lidderdale, Denise Hamer (Dion) of Carroll, and Amy Tigges of Carroll; grandchildren: Kyle and Nicole Bauer, Krista and Carly Tigges, Alec and Hunter Daniel, Haley Hamer; step-grandchildren: Kassi Hamer, Chad and Jeff Riesenberg, and Mary Bakkie; two great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; a brother Merle Wegner of San Antonio, Texas; a sister Mary Anne Moore (Doug) of Ladson, South Carolina and the following in-laws: Aggie Stouten of Eureka Springs, AK, Pat Tigges of Berryville, AK, Virgil & Diane Tigges of Carroll, IA, Bob & Aggie Tigges of St Charles, IA, Zita & John Kotz of Denison, IA.
Charlotte was preceeded in death by her parents, Frank and Frances Wegner; 2 brothers: Norman and Larry Wegner; her mother-in-law and father-in-law: Othmar and Irene Tigges; and step-grandson Billy Riesenberg.
