Charlotte D. Schraeder, age 85, of Carroll died on June 11, 2011 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Rick Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 to 7 P. M. Monday. Organist Mrs. Ellen Severin. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.
She was born on March 9, 1926 at Sloan, Iowa, and was the daughter of Argo J. and Fern (Baker) Olson. The family moved to Breda, Iowa, in 1938. She attended Jackson No. 5 grade school and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1944. After graduation she attended College at Cedar Falls. She later moved to Denison and worked at Welch’s Cafe and later at the U and I Café and Community Oil Café. She married William “Strawberry” Schraeder on November 24, 1946 at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Vail. Following their marriage she worked as manager of the Denison Redi Mix for 10 years before moving o Carroll in 1955. After coming to Carroll she was manager of Wayne’s Cafe and Tap and later worked for Wittrock Motors and Sernett Leisure Center. In her spare time she enjoyed Jigsaw puzzles, embroidery, sewing, cooking, fishing and bingo. Charlotte has been a resident of Regency Park in Carroll since May of 2005.
She is survived by a daughter Debra Kruse and her husband Duane of Glidden; two grandsons: Marc Kruse and his fiancé Ashley Peisig, and Brad Kruse and his special friend Sarah Weidner. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in December of 2002, and a brother Cecil Olson.
