     Charles “Eldon” Wright, age 84, of Scranton, IA, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025.

     Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jefferson with Fr. William Schreiber as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Jenny Wenner. Music for the Mass will be by Amy Roberts and Kate Cuddy. Gift bearers will be Jordan Wright and Emmalin Wright. Casket bearers will be Pat Murphy, Gene Hicks, Collin Krabbe, Logan Krabbe, Jeff Wright, Devin Krabbe, Mason Krabbe, and Jason Wright. Honorary casket bearers will be Jenny Wenner, Emma Hoffman, Jordan Wright, Anna Ricker, Emmalin Wright, Whitley Wright, and Tate Wright. Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

     A Rosary will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton on Tuesday at 3:30 P.M. with visitation following from 4 – 6 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 9:30 A.M. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the service.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for a later designation.

     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

      Eldon as he was known to most was born on his family’s farm on Horseshoe Bend north of Scranton on February 16, 1941. He was the son of William Ervin and Lois Irene (Horning) Wright. He grew up on the farm and graduated from Scranton Consolidated Schools in 1958. He enlisted in the United States Army after high school and served four years. Eldon was married to Sharon Kay Klocke on October 8, 1966 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham, IA. They began farming in Audubon County for two years and then moved to their farm north of Scranton where they raised their three children and farmed their entire married life. Eldon, a devout Christian, was an active member and director of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton until its closing when they became members of St. Joseph’s in Jefferson. He was active in the Scranton Community and served on several boards over the years including: Scranton School Board, Farmer’s Elevator Board, and the Associated Milk Producers Incorporated Board. Eldon enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, tractor pulls, snowmobiling, and Morel mushroom hunting. Farming was his passion and he loved his family dearly and John Deere 4020 tractors.

     Eldon is survived by his wife Sharon Wright of 59 years of Scranton; his children and their families: Eric Wright (Barrie) of Mountain Lake, MN, Amy Jo Ricker (Mark) of Raymond, KS, and William “B.J.” Wright (Hayleigh) of Scranton; thirteen grandchildren; eleven brothers and sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews, and many good friends.

     Eldon was preceded in death by his parents William and Lois Wright; his father and mother-in-law Clem and Elizabeth Klocke; and two brothers: Henry and Duane Wright; and many other extended family members.
