Charles William Casey, age 75, of rural Glidden passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with Pastor Rick Hamilton officiating. Organist for the service will be Shelly Brant and Gary Haupert will be soloist. Casket bearers will be Adam Casey, Ron Brant, John Toms, Steve Murphy, Josh Johnson, Jeff Abbott, Jan Kolar, and Dan Hoffman. Honorary casket bearers will be Casey’s great grandchildren: Brayden and Bryson; and friends: Jacob Bundt and Tervor Bundt. Burial will be in the Dillavou Cemetery near Ralston with military honors by the Merle Hay Post of the American Legion of Glidden. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will resume at 9:30 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on July 19, 1940 in Falls City, NE, he was the son of Richard William and Ethel Dorothy (Popejoy) Casey. Charles was known to most as “Casey” and he grew up in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Technical High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958 and served until 1964 stationed in many locations working on submarines. He was married to Beverly Jean Hampton on June 16, 1962 at First Baptist Church in Melbourne, FL. The couple lived in Charleston, SC until he was honorably discharged when they moved to Florida where he worked for NASA on the Saturn 5 project and for the Melbourne Fire Department. Casey and Bev also lived in Washington State, Omaha, and Des Moines before moving to Glidden in 1976. While living in Des Moines, Casey attended Faith Bible College and earned a degree in theology. He served as the Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden for eight years. Casey and Bev also served on the Hiawatha Baptist Mission. In retirement, Casey worked several jobs and was currently employed at West Central Coop in Jefferson driving for the agronomy and grain departments. He was a member of the Merle Hay Post of the American Legion and Grace Baptist Church in Glidden. Casey is survived by his wife Bev of 54 years of Glidden; a daughter Starr Casey of St. Louis, MO; two sons Sean Casey of Glidden and Shannon Casey of Denver, CO; two grandchildren: Adam Casey of Glidden and Brittany Schmehr of Carroll; two great grandsons: Brayden and Bryson; a sister-in-law Lou Wells of Charleston, SC; and two cousins. Casey was preceded in death by his parents.
