Charlie was born November 10, 1946 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Vernon and Alice (Jeys) Bock.  Charlie grew up as the 8 th of 9 children.  He attended Fort Dodge School his entire academic career, graduating in 1964.  Immediately after graduating, Charlie joined the United States Air Force, serving our country during the Vietnam War, ending his service after 8 years.

Charlie married Joni Arrowsmith on February 24, 1973, in Fort Dodge and together had 6 children, 2 girls and 4 boys, Sherri, Shane, Shawn, Shyler, Shandi and Shamus.  Charlie began working for Mid-Continent bottlers in Fort Dodge.  Charlie then moved his family to Coon Rapids to work for Pioneer Seeds/Garst and Thomas in 1974.  In 1987 Charlie relocated his family to Whiting, Iowa, working for Westendorf Manufacturing and then moving to Koch Ag to finish his career.  In 1998, Charlie suffered from a stroke that forced him into retirement but opened up a new disposition for him to enjoy a life that consumed the friendship of so many people along the way. Charlie was known for his great tan and love of being outdoors on a sunny day.  Charlie cherished trips to Walmart to stock up on supplies, putting puzzles together, and taking care of his houseplants.  What Charlie really enjoyed, however, were visits from his children and grandchildren, a cold Miller Lite, and being the life of the party at every moment. He was always in a good mood, and enjoyed giving grief to anyone that took the time to visit with him.

Left to celebrate his life are his children; Sherri Steinkamp of Glidden, Shane (Kellie) Bock of Bennington, NE, Shawn (Mandi) Bock of Coon Rapids, Shyler Bock of Carroll, Shandi (Brian) Kennebeck of Glidden, and Shamus (Samantha) Bock of Felicity, OH; 16 grandchildren; two sisters: Mary Jo (Don) Dencklau of Thor and June (Jerry) Sankey of Fort Dodge; sisters-in-law: Juanita Bock of Fort Dodge, Linda (Allen) Free of Glidden, Carol O’Tool of Glidden and JoAnn Clausen of Glidden; brother-in-law Duane (Norma) Birnbaum,  along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Alice Bock;  father-in-law John Arrowsmith; mother-in-law Shirley Arrowsmith, his brother: Michael Bock, 5 sisters: Ruth (Dick) Kennedy, Nancy (John) Monninghoff, Verna Rae (Donald) Snell, Pat Birnbaum and Judy Dancklau; and one brother-in-law Roger O’Tool.
