Cathy grew up in Coon Rapids where she graduated from high school in 1972. She graduated from Buena Vista College in 1979 with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. She worked as a counselor for Children and Families of Iowa in Carroll and Quakerdale in Manning. Cathy also worked for New Hope Village in supportive community living as a care giver. Cathy was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Jefferson where she was passionate in her teaching of first and second grade girls about their Bible lessons. She strived to use lessons using puppetry, craft, and community events. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, reading, decorating, painting, and collecting angels and Siamese cat figurines. The past several years, she cherished endeavors with her adventurous, spirited son, Eric. She traveled through the states of California, Maryland, and New York. She especially enjoyed reaching the status of “world traveler” as she explored Germany, Italy, France, and Luxemborg. The highlight of her travels was experiencing a once in a lifetime viewing the Holy Shroud of Turin. “Old World” living in Italy was also a highlight as she observed local residents hand make and sell their pastries and goods on the streets. Cathy loved spending time with her family. Cathy is survived by her son Eric Tuel of Davenport; her mother Marie Tuel of Carroll; four sisters Rosemary Paulsen (Martin) of Coon Rapids, Valerie Hucka (Kerry) of Carroll, Virginia Tuel of Carroll, Tina Lappe (Jeff) of Milford; two brothers Marty Tuel (Mary) of Carroll and Reginald Tuel of Carroll; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
