Carolyn A. Taphorn

Carolyn A. Taphorn, age 86, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2026 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll surrounded by her family.

Private family services will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll conducted by Father Merlin Schrad. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Hospice, St. Anthony Nursing Home, or the Carroll Animal Rescue.

Carolyn was born on March 25, 1939 in Carroll, IA. She was the daughter of Harry and Alma (Wenck) Bruggeman. She grew up on a farm north of Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School. Carolyn was married to Duane Taphorn on September 30, 1960 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Carroll. Duane and Carolyn lived their entire married life in Carroll where they raised their three daughters: Cindy, Christy, and Cathy. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Carolyn is survived by two daughters: Cindy Jorgensen (Doug) of Carroll and Christy Snyder of Carroll (Shannon Railsback of Odebolt and his children Sadie Reisz (Jeff) and Keaton Railsback); a son-in-law Scott Strader of Littleton, CO; three grandchildren: Tasha Minnehan (Jon), Tacie Clark (Jimmy), and Halie Renze (Zach); seven great-grandchildren: Kamryn, Tucker, Axel, Wyatt, Emmett, Isla, and Walker; and several nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband Duane Taphorn; her parents Harry and Alma Bruggeman; a sister Marilyn Ruchti (Gene); her in-laws Christine and Joseph Taphorn; a daughter Cathy Taphorn; a son-in-law Mike Snyder; and a brother-in-law Ronald Taphorn in infancy.
