Carolyn Jean Schroeder, age 80, of Carroll passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.      Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 P.M. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. by Holy Spirit Parish.   The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until the time of service. An honor guard will be formed at the church by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas.   Lector for the mass will be Sherri Burkle. Eucharistic Ministers will be Lon and Catherine Schroeder. Gift bearers will be Brian and Karen Schroeder and Jill Chevalier and her nine granddaughters. Casket bearers will be Justin Schroeder, Sean Schroeder, Dan Roberts, Josh Weyer, Luke Schmidt, and Doug Dailey. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery at Arcadia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home or church.      Born on July 24, 1933 in Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Merlin “Mike” and Anna (Wilkins) Sexton. She grew up in Glidden and her family moved to Arcadia when she was in 7th grade. She graduated from Arcadia High School in 1951. She was married to Vincent “Vic” Schroeder on September 9, 1953 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia by Fr. Stork. Carolyn worked for Dr’s John and Roland Morrison as an assistant for several years as well as helping her husband with their farming operation south of Arcadia. The couple retired from farming in 2000 and moved to Carroll. Carolyn was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Holy Spirit Women’s Guild, Christian Mothers, the Catholic Daughter’s of the Americas, and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, going to Lake Okoboji, spending the winters in Arizona, and being with her family and friends.      Carolyn is survived by her husband Vic of Carroll; two daughters: Sherri Burkle and her husband Ron of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jill Chevalier and her husband Steve of Omaha; two sons Lon Schroeder and his wife Catherine of Avoca, Iowa, and Brian Schroeder and his wife Karen of Arcadia; ten grandchildren: Angie Roberts and her husband Dan of Omaha, Sarah Hawkins and her husband Judd of Chandler, Arizona, Kellie Schroeder of Des Moines, Jen Weyer and her husband Josh of Omaha, Ciera and Paige Buchanan of Omaha, Justin Schroeder and his wife Amy of Arcadia, Sean Schroeder and his fiancé Kristin Fertig of Bayard, Erin Schmidt and her husband Luke of Carrollton, Texas, and Stephanie Elsasser of Omaha, and Samantha Brown and her husband Cory of Omaha, Ryan Burkle and his wife Jackie of Omaha, Stacy Walston and her husband Jon of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Jean-Marc Tardieu of Trinidad-Tobago, and Jean- Philippe of Trinidad-Tobago; six great grandchildren: Hannah, Chance, Riley, Keaton, Hunter, and Grant; a sister Phyllis Schweers of Carroll; a brother-in-law Ivan Schroeder and his wife Alma of Elma, Iowa ; a sister-in-law Shirley Wolterman and her husband Robert of Mesa, Arizona; a brother-in-law Wilbert Lussman of Carroll and a sister-in-law Lois Schroeder of Elkhorn, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Katie Schroeder.
