Carole Honold, age 75, of Coon Rapids passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Mill Pond in Ankeny. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids with Pastor Brian Licht officiating. Organist for the service will Patty Patrick. Casket bearers will be Chris Heydon, Nick Jameson, Stan Janssen, Doug Honold, Ron Wilson and John Hutchinson. Honorary casket bearers will be Wendell Emery, Julia Campell, Matthew Hutchinson, and Sarah Hutchinson. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetary near Coon Rapids. Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening. The casket will be moved to Trinity Lutheran Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will continue until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for Carole’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on January 4, 1943 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Dale and Ada (Meyers) Smouse. She grew up in the White Rock area south of Coon Rapids and graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1961. Following high school, Carole attended Drake University in Des Moines. She was married to James Paul Honold on February 8, 1964 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Coon Rapids. The couple made their home in Coon Rapids, where she worked for Garst and Thomas Seed Company. The couple moved to Minden, IA for three years while Jim worked as a State Trooper and Carole worked at the Copper Kettle Restaurant. In 1970, they moved back to Coon Rapids and lived on the family farm until 2002 when they moved into Coon Rapids. She worked at the Coon Rapids Library for several years and was also the director of the Bagley Public Library and oversaw its accreditation. She retired in 2016. Carole was an avid crafter and sold her crafts at various shows and boutiques. Carole was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served in many offices and was active in the LWML. Carole is survived by her daughter, Natalie Hutchinson (John) of Ankeny; two grandchildren: Sarah and Matthew Hutchinson; a sister, Marilyn Heydon of Bondurant; a step sister, Jean Wilson (Ron) of Indianola; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Brahms of Greenfield, IA; and two nephews: Nick Jameson and Chris Heydon. Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Dale Smouse and Ada Lloyd; her step father, Lynn Lloyd; her mother and father-in-law, Paul and Lula Honold; three brothers-in-law: Steve Heydon, Ron Jameson, and Don Brahms; and her husband James Honold on December 19, 2017.
