Carol Jean Park, age 86, of Scranton passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Regency Park in Jefferson. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson with Fr. Jeff Schleisman as Celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be by Marlene Hupp and Delphine Wittrock. Eucharistic Minister will be Ruth Naberhaus and Mass Server will be Dick Davis. Music for the Mass will by Lois Last and Amy Roberts. Gift bearers will be Carol’s grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Tony Park, Max Monthei, Kyle Park, Robbie Park, Quinton Park, Cody Renwanz, Blake Renwanz, Seth Johnston, Logan Johnston, Ryan Kirschman, and Zach Dettlinger. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton after 3:30 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Joseph Church in Jefferson at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass. Born on June 1, 1931 in Manning, IA, she was the daughter of Jack and Pearl (Franzwa) West. Carol grew up in Kingsley where she graduated from High School in 1949. Following high school she attended the Antonian School of Nursing in Carroll. Carol was married to Bob Park on December 28, 1950 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kingsley with Fr. Janse as Celebrant. Over the years, Bob and Carol lived in Lanesboro, Lake City, Coon Rapids, and since 1962 they have made their home in Scranton. Carol worked at St. Anthony Regional Hospital and General Electric in Carroll. In later years, she worked at the Scranton Library and did daycare in her home. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Scranton until its closing and then attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson. Carol has made her home at Regency Park in Jefferson for the past two and a half years where she received excellent, loving, care. Carol enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching Lawrence Welk, praying the Rosary, and spending time with her family and many many good friends. Carol is survived by four daughters: Terri Renwanz (Bill) of Jefferson, Kathy Geuss (Eric) of Nashville, TN, Trish Monthei (Andy Krause) of Panora, and Jan Kirschman (Rick) of Ankeny; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Marty West of Illinois; a brother-in-law Verlyn Schmidt of Moville; and several nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Pearl West; her mother and father-in-law Carl and Earnestine Park; her husband Robert Park in 1988; two sisters: LaMorne Schurtz (Bob) and Phyllis Schmidt; two brothers: Merle West (Helen) and Jack West; four sons: Steve, Mike, Andy, and Jon; two daughters Mary Jo Halterman and Julie Park; and a grandson Nick Halterman.
