Carol J. Lenz

Carol Lenz, age 71, of Carroll passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter as Celebrant. Concelebrants will be Father Brian Feller, Father Edmund Tiedeman, and Father Peter Nguyen. Lectors for the Mass will be Angie Palmer and Susan Pauley. Gift bearers will be Carol’s grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Kevin Pudenz, Mike Lenz, Gary Wiskus, Alissa Fisher, Laura Rohe, Tricia Weberg. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale. Friends may call at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll after 4:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Christian Wake Service held at 6:30 P.M. Visitation will resume at the church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Kuemper Foundation Memorial Fund and may be left at the church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on January 31, 1946 in Denison, IA, she was the daughter of Floyd and Grace (Simon) Meehan. She grew up on her family’s farm near Vail and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1964. Following high school, Carol worked for Wunschel Law Firm for two years. She was married to Ray Lenz on November 4, 1967 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Vail by Fr. Leo Lenz. Ray and Carol made their home on the Lenz family farm north of Carroll. After the birth of her first child, Carol devoted her life to raising her children and supporting her husband’s business. She was an avid volunteer and spent many hours volunteering at St. Anthony Nursing Home with her good friend Betty Ann Juergens, Holy Family Parish, and numerous other projects. In 2002, she completed a degree in interior design. Carol enjoyed flowers, decorating her home, singing in the Carroll Community Chorus, following Notre Dame Football, and spending time with her family and many good friends. Carol is survived by her husband Ray Lenz of 50 years of Carroll; two daughters Julie Vessel (Paul) of Edina, MN and Janelle Lenz Schreck (Chase) of Carroll; Scott Lenz (Jodi) of Carroll; a daughter-in-law Sara Messerich (Dan) of Carroll; seven grandchildren: Carolyn, Amelia, and Thomas Vessel, Madeline and Jack Lenz, and Lillian and Louie Schreck; two sisters: Karen Pudenz (Kenneth) of Harrisburg, MO, and Pat Heithoff (Morrie) of Manning; a sister-in-law Phyllis Wiskus (Arnold) of Dedham; three brothers-in-law Dean Lenz (Joyce) of Mesa, AZ, Maurice Lenz (Eileen) of Decorah, IA, and Merle Lenz (Mary Rose) of Elkhorn, NE; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Grace Meehan; her mother and father-in-law Edward and Lillian Lenz; Ray’s half-brother Louie Lenz; and her son Chad Lenz on June 27, 2010.
