Carol Mae Clausen, age 65, of Glidden passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at her home in Glidden. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the Glidden United Methodist Church. Pastor Rick Hamilton of Grace Baptist Church in Glidden will officiate. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until time of service. Casket bearers will be Ronnie Clausen, Ray Wilson, Dean Boell, Dave Hoffman, Gary Mahannah, and Brent Benton. Honorary casket bearers will be members of the RPM Club and the Classic Glass Corvette Club. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Carroll Animal Rescue League and may be left at the funeral home or the church.
Born on January 14, 1949 in Denison, she was the daughter of Douglas and Viola (Jordan) Tibbetts. She grew up in Denison and graduated from Denison High School. She was married to Chuck Clausen on October 20, 1978 at the Presbyterian Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Glidden and have owned and operated Chuck’s Body Shop in Carroll for 30 years where Carol was office manager. Carol was an active, energetic lady. She enjoyed taking trips in their Corvette, traveling to various places and going to car shows. Carol was a member of the RPM club and the Classic Glass Corvette Club. She looked forward to her daily walks in the morning with her friends and then again at night with her husband. She loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren; reading them stories, playing outside, attending sports activities and going shopping. Carol was a sweet, soft spoken person who people could go to for help and advice. She had a passion for exercise, reading, shopping, and taking care of baby kittens.
Carol is survived by her husband Chuck Clausen of Glidden; a son Matt Hale and his wife Kim of Louisburg, KS; a daughter Rachel Gehling and her husband Scott of Elkhart, IA; two grandchildren: Tanner and Tiana Gehling of Elkhart; a sister Norma Wilson and her husband Ray of Denison; and two nieces: Tammy Boell and her husband Dean of Denison and Brittney Myers and her husband Joey of Carroll and a nephew Brett of Denison. She is also survived by her aunt Marge Jordan of Denison.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Viola and Douglas Tibbetts, her son Eric Clausen, and her aunt and uncle Ramona and Clifford Jordan.
