Carol Jean Blincow, age 87, of Carroll, IA, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Terry Plocher officiating. Organist for service will be Ellen Severin. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday. The casket will be moved to the First United Methodist Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Carroll Public Library or St. Anthony Regional Hospital Foundation.

Carol was born on August 28, 1935 in Auburn, NE, and she was the daughter of Theodore and Alice (Fleer) Troxel. She grew up in Hastings, NE, where she graduated from high school and then attended Hastings College where she earned her teaching certificate and a degree in English. Carol was married to Robert Blincow on June 19, 1957 in Hastings, NE. The couple made their home in Houston, TX, St. Louis, MO, and Cheyenne, WY before moving to Carroll where Bob was the Administrator of St. Anthony Regional Hospital and Carol did substitute teaching while raising their children. She then began a career at First Federal Savings and Loan as a teller and later becoming a Certified Financial Advisor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll and Chapter EB of P.E.O.. Carol was a founding member of the Carroll Community Theater and she served on the Carroll Library Board. Carol enjoyed traveling, cooking, playing and teaching Bridge, reading, puzzles, socializing with her friends, and spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by a daughter Rebecca Claypool of Williamsburg, IA; a son Robert Blincow Jr. (Cindy) of West Des Moines; two grandchildren: John Claypool (Angie) of Grapevine, TX, and Sarah Claypool of Des Moines; a sister Jan Prisco of San Mateo, CA; a sister-in-law Barb Troxel of Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Alice Troxel; her father and mother-in-law Floyd and Henrietta Blincow; a sister Judy West (Scott); a brother Richard Troxel; a son-in-law Tom Claypool; and her husband Robert Blincow in 1992.
