Brandy was born on August 8, 1981 in Sacramento, California. Daughter of Chris (Hodges) and Art Valentine. She moved with her parents to Iowa in 1989. She grew up primarily in Dedham, Iowa and attended Carroll Public Schools. One of the highlights of her time in high school was being a cheerleader and participating in many competitions. Through some of those activities she made some of her closest, lifelong friends.

Brandy worked a handful of jobs, but her passion lied within the various positions she held at New Hope Village in Carroll, where she was employed for over 15 years. It was no secret to anyone close to her how much she loved and cared for the individuals she served there. Brandy was put in the heart wrenching position of stepping down from her responsibilities due to health concerns that arose in 2016.

Brandy had a multitude of interests, which included crafting, a surprising newfound love for baking, traveling-she would have traveled the world given the opportunity, she was an animal lover of all sorts and had a variety of pets throughout the years. She couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, but she sure loved music and going to concerts. Even though she loved all of these things, the one thing she loved above all else was spending time with her family, and was absolutely elated with the anticipation of her first granddaughter due in late August.

Brandy will be greatly missed by her fiancé, Jonathan Marshall; her four children, Carlie Hodges-Irlbeck, Bennett Sievers, Clark Sievers, and Linkin Kramer; her parents, Chris and Art Valentine; her sister, Sara Valentine; her gramma, Lola Bennett; as well as Jonathan’s family; his mother, Crystal Marshall; his sister, Kathleen Carper, her husband Klay, and their son, Konner. Brandy also had a large extended family across the country and many dear friends who will also remember her presence in their lives.

Brandy is preceded in death by her beloved grandfather, Earl Bennett, who she is now fishing with in heaven.

The family thanks you all for your thoughts, condolences, and acts of kindness during this difficult time.
