Bonnie Jean Weekley, age 83, of Carrollton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Pleasant Ridge Community Church near Glidden with Pastor Brian Hodge officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Friday to lie in state until the time of service. Pianist for the service will be Susan Moore. Casket bearers will be Jason Formanack, Allen Formanack, Jeff Leanna, Bryan Schmitz, Mike Lloyd, Jill Spies, Lisa Johnston and Jenny Duncan. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll. Born on July 28, 1927 at Carrollton she was the daughter of Thomas and Annie (Lloyd) Hessler. Bonnie was a lifelong resident of Carrollton and resided at Regency Park Care Center in Carroll for the past eight years. She graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1945. She was married to Grover Weekley on December 20, 1945 at Guthrie Center. She worked for the Garst Seed Company for many years and later worked for Boomsmas Egg Plant in Glidden retiring in 1993. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Community Church near Glidden for many years where she taught Sunday school and was active in her church circle. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, reading, playing bingo, watching basketball on television, playing Pinochle, bird watching, and visiting with her many good friends.
Surviving are her three daughters: Judi Leanna of Omaha, Nebraska, Carol Chaney of Farragut, Iowa, and Dee Schmitz and her husband Tom of Templeton; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; a sister-in-law Dolly Weekley of Canton, Ohio; two aunts: Verda Lloyd of Glidden and Darlene Lloyd of Coon Rapids; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Annie Hessler, and an infant sister Janet Hessler, her husband Grover Weekley, her mother and father-in-law, and two sons-in-law: Mike Formanack and Doug Leanna,
