Bonnie Lou Mead was born in Thayer, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Anna (Allen) Mead. She spent her childhood in Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School. She later earned her Licensed Practical Nurse certification from St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll.
Bonnie met the love of her life, Ronald LaVerne Owen, on a blind date. The couple was united in marriage on September 16, 1963, at First Presbyterian Church in Carroll. They were blessed with two children, Kelly Ronald and Ronna Michelle.
Bonnie dedicated many years caring for others while working at New Hope Village in Carroll as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She had a kind and caring heart and found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved crocheting, reading romance novels, fishing, and making trips to the casino with her daughter. One of her favorite pastimes was taking Sunday drives with Ron. They were truly inseparable, and knowing that Bonnie is reunited with Ron brings comfort and peace to those who loved her. Above all else, Bonnie cherished her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Kelly (Angie) Owen of Polk City; her daughter, Ronna (Greg) Davis of Bayard; her grandchildren, Mitch (Sarah) Owen of Ames, Danielle Lawhead of Glidden, Caleb (Whitney) Owen of Lodi, California, Lucas (Makayla) Owen of Austin, Minnesota, Ryan (Rachel) King of Audubon, Mackenzie (Zack) Onken of Carroll, Tony Davis of Des Moines, Brandon Taylor of Bayard, Jeremy (Sarah) Elliott of Grimes and Brian (Lorraine) Peach of Florida; her great-grandchildren, Hudson, Kacy and Jackson Onken, Mila King, Mage, Zeke and Emerick Taylor, Abel and Ariya Elliott, Anthony Hackett, A’miah and A’rayna Smith; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenny and Leona Owen of Glidden; her sisters-in-law, Marion (LeRoy) Janssen of Glidden and Shirley (Gary) Zieman of Phoenix, Arizona; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Ron, in 2018; her parents, Robert and Anna Mead; her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Judy Mead; her sister, Betty Mead; her parents-in-law, Gail and Clara Owen; and her brother-in-law, Donald Owen.
Her gentle spirit, unwavering love, and the many memories she created with those she loved will never be forgotten.
