Bonnie Louise Neumayer

April 1, 1940 — January 21, 2025

Bonnie Louise Neumayer, age 84, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha surrounded by her family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Father Peter Pham as Celebrant.  Gift bearer will be Bonnie’s son Tim Ortner.  Casket bearers will be Hannah Hugen, Jill Ortner, Chase Macy, Zachary Macy, Alex Kokenge, Eric Hugen, and Burt Sly.   Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Friday evening with a Rosary at 5:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

Bonnie was born on April 1, 1940 in Pocahontas, IA.  She was the daughter of Delmar and Marian (Wiseman) Vernia. She grew up in Pocahontas and Walnut until her family moved to Carroll and she graduated from Kuemper High School.  Bonnie worked at the Carroll Elks Lodge and later at New Hope Village for many years.  She was married to Glen “Stoney” Neumayer on March 27, 1997 in Carroll, IA.  Bonnie loved flowers, the Iowa State Cyclones, the Kansas City Chiefs and Brock Purdy, crocheting, and shopping.  She enjoyed having coffee with her friends and watching the birds on her deck, but most of all, Bonnie cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

Bonnie is survived by her children and their families: son Kevin Ortner of Columbus, OH, son Timothy Ortner (Nancy) of Marysville, WA, daughter Lori Macy (Burt Sly) of Des Moines, and daughter Kristi Hugen (Eric) of Monroe, IA; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother Delmar Vernia Jr. (Linda) of Des Moines; and a nephew Ron Vernia (Dawn) of Des Moines.  Bonnie is also survived by her late husband Stoney Neumayer’s family to whom she was very close and considered her own: Ron Neumayer (Bev) of Lincoln, NE, Randy Neumayer (Karen) of Lincoln, NE, Deanne Dentlinger (Dave) of Arcadia, IA, Tim Neumayer (Deb) of Naperville, IL, Kristy Schaefer of Omaha, NE, Vickie Warnke (Randy) of Carroll, Cindy Schweers (Rich) of Arcadia, IA, Geri Wieneke (Larry) of Omaha, NE, Mark Neumayer (Sharon) of Omaha, NE, Bob Neumayer (Laurie) of Omaha, NE, and Scott Neumayer (Lisa) of Johnston, IA.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Delmar and Marian Vernia; her sister Ann Marie Vernia; her husband Glen “Stoney” Neumayer in 2020; and her son Mike Ortner in 2019.
