Bonnie Hurd

April 30, 1941 — October 11, 2008

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Carroll with the Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzsimmons officiating. Nancy Davis will serve as organist and John Wagner will be the vocalist. Casket Bearers will be Dale Andersen, George Crouse, Bill Badding, Jim Mielk, Al Riesberg and Kenny Crouse. Burial will follow at Carroll City Cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m., on Tuesday at Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to church at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday for viewing until time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in memory of Bonnie and may be left at the funeral home or the church. Bonnie Sue Hurd, age 67, of Carroll died early Saturday, October 11, 2008, at Jenny Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bonnie was born April 30, 1941, at Logansport, Indiana. She grew up at Logansport and graduated from high school there in 1958. Bonnie then attended secretary school in Chicago, Illinois. She was married to Larry Hurd in 1961 and then moved to Carroll. Three children were born to this marriage. Bonnie was employed by Crouse Cartage Company as a receptionist and switchboard operator and had the company record of being employed for the longest number of years. She was “The voice of Crouse Cartage” for many years. Bonnie enjoyed playing cards, golf, bowling, reading, socializing, ceramics and attending bridge club. Bonnie was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, Bridge Club and the Teamsters Union. Bonnie is survived by three children: Larry Hurd, Ericka Hurd and Brent Hurd and wife Karen, all of Carroll; and three grandchildren: Jacob, Mollie and Maggie. She was preceded in death by her parents.
