Beverly Ann Kruger

Beverly Ann Kruger, 80, of Carroll, IA, and formerly of Churdan, IA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Addington Place in Carroll surrounded by her family.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Patrick Behm. The Catholic Daughters will form an honor guard at the Mass. Lector will be Heather Carey. Gift bearers will be her five grandchildren. Casket bearers will be Merlin Hinners, Randy Snyder, Todd Snyder, Rick Snyder, Tony Wernimont, Sam Wernimont, Dean Wernimont, Ross Wernimont, Nick Pudenz, Adam Pudenz, and Von Walter.

A graveside service will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery near Churdan, IA, at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday.

Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9:30 A.M. on Thursday where visitation will resume until 10:15 A.M. prior to the Mass.

Bev was born on October 21, 1945 in Carroll, IA, the daughter of Albert and Rosaila (Baumhover) Wernimont. She spent her younger years on the family farm east of Breda. Bev graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1963. After Graduation Bev worked at North Western Bell Telephone as an operator. On December 26, 1964, she married Melvin Kruger at Saint Robert Bellamine Church in Saint Roberts, Missouri. Bev and Mel were blessed with three children. Bev had several odd jobs while the children were young. Delivering Sunday papers in the Glidden area, relief phone operator at St. Anthony’s Hospital on weekends, and she sorted corn in the Fall at the Garst Corn Plant in Coon Rapids, Iowa. In 1973 Bev was hired at the GE Plant in Carroll where she met many friends. There she worked as an operator and a set up. In 1978 she entered the Tool & Die program at DMACC in Ankeny, earning an associate degree in Applied Sciences. General Electric hired her back as a tool and die maker. After 11 years at GE, she went back to farming with Mel. Bev bought her first horse in 1994. In 1998, after moving to the Churdan area, she enjoyed having trail rides through their woods and meeting new people. Bev also enjoyed 4-wheeling, playing cards, golf, hunting, bowling, and going to her grandchildren’s games. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and popcorn was her favorite vegetable. Bev was instrumental in the restoration of the basement at historic St. Patrick’s Catholic Church west of Churdan. Bev was an active member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Churdan where she sang in the choir, read for masses, and taught Catechism. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. After moving to Carroll in June of 2025, she became a member of St Lawrence Parish in Carroll. 

Survivors include her husband Melvin Kruger of Carroll: her children, Roxanne (Garry) Garrett of Carroll, Mike (Roberta) Kruger of Nevada, and Karen (Jim) Beckwith of Ames; her grandchildren Travis Kruger (Monica Sasse), Shawn Kruger (Jenna Chance) , Megan Reck, Amelia Garrett and Joe Garrett; two brothers: Dale Wernimont of Breda and Alan (Sheryl) Wernimont of Carroll; four sisters: Cheryl (John) Adams of Geneseo, IL, Pat Wernimont (Sue Baily) of Omaha, NE, Nancy (Jeff) Pudenz of Churdan, IA, and Lori (Craig) Walter of Papillion, NE; her in-laws: JoAnn Wernimont of Carroll, Linda Wernimont of Carroll, Mary Kay Wernimont of Carroll, and Marlene Kruger of Coon Rapids; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and many friends. 

Bev was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Rosaila Wernimont; her parents-in-law Ernest and Flossie Kruger; five brothers: Gerald, Merle, Roger and his wife Cheryl, Ronald, and Marvin; two sisters: Phyllis and her husband Larry Hinners, Jean and her husband Ralph Fisher; a niece Mary Hinners; and three nephews: Chris, Jay and Marc Wernimont.
