August 22, 1939 — April 18, 2016

Betty Ann Parker, age 76, of Glidden passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll surrounded by her family and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Glidden United Methodist Church with Rev. Lorinda Hoover officiating. Music for the service will be by Mary Ross. Casket bearers will be Nick Ehrecke, Brandon Ehrecke, Jason Gray, Brandon Lobb, Scott Wempe, and Kyle Gallinger. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Friends may call from 5 – 7 P.M. on Sunday evening at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on August 22, 1939 in Carroll, IA, she was the daughter of Russell and Merriam (Sprimont) White. She grew up in Glidden where she attended country school and graduated from Glidden High School in 1957. She lived in Des Moines following high school where she attended beauty school and met her future husband. She was married to Jerry Parker on February 14, 1960. To this union were born five children: Rex, Theresa, Linda, Brian and Amy. Betty and Jerry raised their family in Glidden where she worked at Boomsma’s Egg Plant and later became a homemaker. She was a member of the Glidden United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed gardening, bird watching, baking, going for rides along the Raccoon River, watching her grandchildren play sports, and spending time with her family. Left to cherish Betty’s memory are two daughters: Linda Ehrecke (Ralph) of Bettendorf, IA, Amy Gray (Kevin) of Glidden; two sons: Rex Parker of Glidden and Brian Parker of Harlan; eight grandchildren: Shelbi Parker (Brandon Lobb) of Chicago, Tyffani Parker (Scott Wempe) of Carroll, Nick Ehrecke of Arizona, Brandon Ehrecke of Iowa City, Ashton Ehrecke of Ames, Tressy Parker (Kyle Gallinger) of West Des Moines, Jason Gray of Glidden, and Kelsey Gray of Glidden; four great grandchildren: Ryan, Payten, Carson, and Iris; two sisters: Joyce Bonacci (Fred) of Phoenix, AZ, and Sandra Bennett (Jerry) of Glidden; a brother John White (Mary) Carroll; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Theresa in infancy, her husband Jerry in 1999, and a sister Janice Siepker.
