Betty Lipton

Betty Jane Lipton, age 89, of Carroll passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Regency Park Care Center in Carroll. Born on January 14, 1920 at Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Frank and Edna (Kay) Strawn. She graduated from Los Angeles High School in Los Angeles, California in 1938. She was married to Patrick Rogers, an Air Force Pilot, who was killed in an airplane accident in 1955. She was married to Lt. Col. Gerald Lipton on March 15, 1957 at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California. Betty was employed as a secretary in her younger years for an airplane manufacturing company. She and her husband Gerald lived in various locations before moving to Carroll in 2002. Surviving are her husband Lt. Col. Gerald Lipton of Carroll; a daughter Patricia Mabey and her husband Munro of Vancouver Island, B.C.; a son Scott Lipton and his wife Kathy of Tucson, Arizona; a daughter Barbara Larsen of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a son Patrick Lipton and his wife Sharon of Vancouver, Washington; a son Tom Lipton and his wife Marjean of Carroll; nine grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters Dorothy and Geraldine. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the First Presbyterian in Carroll with Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzsimmons officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Sally Patten. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 A.M. on Thursday until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Craig Luchtel, Paul Marvin, LeRoy Johnson, and Dr. Greg Perkins. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
