Betty J. Heuton, age 85, of Carroll passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at St Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll with Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until the time of the service. Organist for the service will be Jan Potthoff. Casket bearers will be Cory Henson, Joseph Henson, Matthew Wenck, Mark Wenck, Joshua Heuton, and Mike Grandgennett. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Lidderdale. Born on December 5, 1929 in Lake City, she was the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Van Raden) Johnston. Betty grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School in 1948. She was baptized and confirmed in the Baptist faith as a girl. In high school Betty played basketball, was the drum majorette, and was Miss Lake City the summer after she graduated. She was married to Duane Heuton on January 22, 1949 in Omaha. The couple lived near Lidderdale for several years before moving to a farm near Nemaha in Sac County where they farmed and raised their family. Duane and Betty moved back to the home place north of Lidderdale in 1970, and she worked as a Loan Officer for the Production Credit Association and later became Sr. Vice President at Lake City State Bank. Betty retired in 1992. Duane and Betty built their home and moved to Carroll in 1992. Betty enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, and puzzles. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Betty is survived by two daughters: Cheri Henson and her husband LaVern of Carroll and Cindy Wenck and her husband Scott of Lidderdale; two sons: John Heuton and his wife Carlyss of rural Carroll and Jeffrey Heuton of Carroll; 8 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Joyce Johnston of Leggitt, TX ; a brother-in-law Roland Heuton and Darlene Onken of Carroll; two sisters-in-law: Vi Gute and her husband Frank of Carroll and Verna Craig of Muscatine; a sister-in-law Jan Heuton of Lake City; a brother-in-law Charles Lambert and his wife Connie of Houston, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane on August 1, 2015, five sisters, six brothers, and two grandsons: David Wenck and Ryan Heuton.
