Betty L. Best, age 85, of Glidden, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Casket bearers will be Stan Best, Brian Best, Mike Best, Bob Rose, Nick Burdine, and Dave Bushman. Music for the service will be by Carl Wilburn. Burial will be at Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery in Glidden. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for Betty’s family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com. Betty was born in Carroll, Iowa on July 19, 1932, a daughter of Bernard and Caroline (Bushman) Best. She graduated from Glidden High School and attended Concordia Lutheran College in Minnesota. Betty worked at the former County Home, Boomsma Egg Plant, and Garst Seed Company. She enjoyed making crafts, crocheting and quilting at her church. She loved traveling whether by bus or train to visit her Aunt Agnes in Eugene, Oregon. When Agnes’ health declined, Betty moved her back to Glidden and took care of her until she passed away. Betty is survived by her brother Charles Best of Glidden; her niece Carol Rose (Bob) of Grandview, Missouri; nephews: Stanley Best (Mary) of Glidden, Brian Best (Sharon) of Glidden, and Michael Best (Deb) of Onalaska, Wisconsin; and several great-nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister-in-law, Althea Best; and aunt Agnes Best.
