Barbara Ellen (Rule) Peters, 82, went to be with her Lord on June 1, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia with Pastor Ben Dose officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Friday to lie in state until the time of service. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery.
Barbara was born to Robert L. and Margaret Rule of Arion on October 21, 1927. She spent most of her childhood in Denison and graduated from Denison High School. Barbara attended business school in Omaha and worked at the Crawford County State Bank in Denison. She married Lee W. Peters of Arcadia on June 21, 1953 at the Presbyterian Church in Denison. Lee and Barbara made their home in Arcadia, where they raised their family. Barbara served as secretary at the Ar-We-Va Elementary building in Arcadia for 24 years. Barbara was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting, baking, and spending time with her family.
Barbara is survived by her daughter Lynn Nehls and husband L. Thomas of Ames; her son Dave Peters of Arcadia; her granddaughter Jessica Nehls of Ames; two sisters Ruth Anderson of Denison and Rachel Peterson of Arlington Heights, IL; two brothers Robert Rule of Cedar Falls and Craig Rule of Clear Lake; several sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee in 2003, her parents, and a sister Frances.
