Barbara "Barb" Jo Irlbeck, age 80, of Coon Rapids, IA passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, IA. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids with Rev. Joyce Webb officiating. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the service. Organist for the service will be Lula Garnes, pianist will be Johanna Garnes, and soloist will be Cindy Seastrom. A reception to celebrate Barb's life will be held at the Coon Rapids American Legion following the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on November 25, 1934 in Wellsburg, IA, she was the daughter of Leslie "Red" and Jane (Krull) Holcomb. She was the youngest of two daughters. Her family lived in Wellsburg as a young girl then moved to Eldora where she attended school. She went on to receive her CNA degree and worked many years in different departments in the Eldora Hospital. On September 29, 1952 she married Marlin Kirkdorffer in Eldora. Five children were born to this union. They continued to live in Eldora then moved to Coon Rapids where she began working at Thomas Rest Haven as a CNA and worked there for 22 years. On March 20, 1976 Barb married John Irlbeck in Vermillion, SD at the farm house of a friend. She very much enjoyed their 4:00 p.m. car rides to meet up with friends. Barb loved flowers, cooking, baking, and trying new recipes. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and watching the birds out her window. Barb's biggest passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband John of Coon Rapids; four daughters: Debra Sisson (Phil) of Grundy Center; Renee' McClellan (special friend Jay Howie) of Eldora, Robin Brown (special friend Mike Luiken) of Steamboat Rock, Lesa Stork (Dan) of Coon Rapids; a son Nathan Kirkdorffer (Tawnya) of Webster City; a sister Patricia Feldner (George) of New Jersey; her step-children: John Irlbeck (Edith) of Audubon, Jean Marie Irlbeck (Kyle Lemke) of Audubon and Daniel Irlbeck (Melissa) of Casey; 31 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; several cousins; other relatives; and many friends. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Marlin; a grandson Casey Stork, and a brother-in-law Jack Harrison.
