Barbara Rose Ehlers, age 5, of Coon Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Central Christian Church in Carroll with Pastors Ben Dose of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia and Pastor Ben Ramirez of First Christian Church of Coon Rapids officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday to lie in state until the time of service. Organist for the service will be Kelly Sixta. Musical selections will be “You are My Sunshine”, “Jesus Loves the Little Children”, and “This Little Light of Mine”. Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery near Coon Rapids. Casket bearers will be her uncles: James Boettcher, Jared Boettcher, Chris Ehlers, and Jerry Shields. Born on April 17, 2005 at Manning, Iowa, she was the daughter of Curtis and Keri (Boettcher) Ehlers. Barbara was in kindergarten at Deal Elementary School in Coon Rapids in Mrs. Strasser’s class. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia on June 4, 2005 by Pastor Carl Noble. Barbara enjoyed horses, kittens, coloring, swinging, swimming, and watching Fineas and Ferb and Sponge Bob. She loved her family very much. Surviving are her Mother Keri Ehlers of Coon Rapids; her father Curtis Ehlers of Arcadia; a brother Ryan Ehlers and his special friend Jenny of Pueblo, Colorado; three sisters: Shyla Boettcher of Coon Rapids, Brittany Wiskus of Coon Rapids, and Danica Ehlers of Coon Rapids; her maternal grandmother Carolyn Boettcher of Coon Rapids; her paternal grandmother Shirley Ehlers of Arcadia; her maternal great grand mother Ruth Gravitt of Coon Rapids; her step grandfather Mark Trumbla of Coon Rapids; a nephew Lucas Ehlers; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Darrell Boettcher, her paternal grandfather Glenn Ehlers, her great grandfather James Gravitt, her great aunt Kathy Gravitt.
