Ashley, daughter of Roger and Jaxine (Bowman) Petty, was born on May 13, 1989, at Jefferson, Iowa. She grew up in Coon Rapids, Iowa, attending Coon Rapids-Bayard and later Glidden-Ralston where she graduated in 2008. Ashley was baptized and confirmed at the Coon Rapids Methodist Church.
Throughout her life, Ashley enjoyed working in the Coon Rapids community, starting in her youth with her mother and grandparents at their store and salon, and later at Coon Rapids Country Store and Country Club. She loved being able to talk to customers and greet them with a smile. She made uncountable friends with her ability to strike-up a conversation with anyone. This allowed her to excel in sales, especially with Girl Scout cookies which she sold in her youth and with her daughters, regularly requiring literal truckloads of cookies. Many people remember her from Frohlich’s Super Value, where she continued to enjoy interacting with customers, especially on grocery deliveries much like her father in his youth. Most recently, she joined Park View Assisted Living where she invigorated the lives of the tenants through her caring and conversation.
Ashley started her family with the birth of Domynyck in 2007 and Landon in 2009. She married Steve Kesselring on November 9, 2013 at the Coon Rapids First United Methodist Church. They chose to stay in Coon Rapids and grow their family with Skylar in 2012, Rydell in 2013, Gabriel in 2018, and Taytum.
Ashley is survived by her husband Steve, children: Domynyck and Landon Petty, Skylar, Rydell, and Gabriel Kesselring, her mother Jaxine Petty, two sisters: Mandy Smouse (Josh) and Jessica Hartl (Chris) all of Coon Rapids; their children: Lauren “Jace”, Jared, Parker, and Addison Smouse, Kylee Hartl (Syrus); Uncles, Kevin (Cherie) Petty, Dell Petty (Leslie) and Sid (Cherie) Petty; and aunts, Luann (Gary) Olsen, Lori (Ivan) Cooper and Elsie (Richard) Flug, Linda Petty and Mary Lou Bowman; and her father and mother-in-law: Mick and Stacey Kesselring; brother-in-law James Kesselring; many cousins, other relatives and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Petty; grandparents Leo and Ruby Petty, and Jack and Velma Bowman.
