Arthur J Lappe

Arthur J. Lappe, age 88, of Carroll passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll. Born on July 22, 1919 on his family’s farm near Carroll he was the son of Arnold and Elizabeth (Pietig) Lappe. He was married to Barbara Heater on February 10, 1948 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. Art was a lifelong farmer. He farmed in the rural Dedham area. He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids and he attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church after moving to Templeton. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are a son Orrin Lappe of Carroll; a son Fred Lappe and his wife Ruth of Auburn; a daughter Diane Lappe of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter Debbie McMichael and her husband Merle of Audubon; a daughter Sheila Lappe of Templeton; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister Madeline Lappe of Virginia; a brother Gerald Lappe and his wife Hyacinth of Massena, Iowa; a sister Darlene Fitzhonts of Waukegan, Illinois; and two sisters-in-law Cheryl Heater of Denison and Bernita Lappe of New Ulm, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1990, a daughter Donna in infancy, a brother Harold, a grandson Chris Lappe, and a granddaughter Stacey McMichael. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 25, 2008 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Father Siby Punnoose as celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a rosary at 3:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by the Parish. The casket will be moved to the church at 11:00 A.M. on Friday to lie in state until the time of service. Lector for the mass will be Larry Lappe and gift bearers will be Cristy McMichael, Kelli Elmquist, Kari Dulle, and Shyann Lappe. Casket bearers will be Art’s grandsons: Jeff Lappe, Brian Lappe, Cory Lappe, Eric McMichael, Scott Klocke, and Jarrett Flynn. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
