Arnold Wendell Heuton

Arnold Heuton, age 86, of Grimes, formerly of Glidden, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Born on December 26, 1922 in Carroll County, Iowa, he was the son of Louis and Ada (Bushman) Heuton. Arnold graduated from Glidden High School in 1942. He was married to Mildred Hunt, whom he’d known since childhood, on June 27, 1943 at St. John Lutheran Church in Glidden. The couple farmed nearly all their married life near Glidden. Arnold was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll where he served on many boards. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Glidden Farmer’s Coop for 16 years, worked for ASC, and for the census bureau in various counties. Arnold had a true love for farming, his livestock and his tractor collection. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, friends, and his church. Surviving are his wife of 65 years Mildred Heuton of Grimes; a son Dennis Heuton and his wife Karen of Johnston; a daughter Diane Loffredo and her husband Gene of West Des Moines; six grandchildren: Holly Alex and her husband Jett, Joey Lynne Plummer and her husband Craig, Kelly Conner and her husband Christopher, Matt Heuton and his wife Shelly, Nick Loffredo, and Brian Loffredo; ten great grandchildren: Trevor, Lindsey, Taylor, Tory, Gabi, Riley, Kenzie, Grace, Lexi, and Crew; a brother Virgil Heuton and his wife Gladys of Rembrandt, Iowa; a brother Merle Heuton and his wife Grace of Clearwater, Florida; a brother Delbert Heuton and his wife Eva of Carroll; a brother-in-law Edgar Hunt and his wife Kay of Lanesboro; a brother-in-law John Hunt of Churdan; a sister-in-law Lois Ryan and her husband Rich of Omaha, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, and three sisters-in-law: Leta Heuton, Doreen Stuhr, and Donna Hunt. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 23, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church in Carroll with Pastor Kathy Wicks officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Ellen Severin. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M.. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Monday to lie in state until the time of service. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden. Casket bearers will be Matt Heuton, Brian Loffredo, Nick Loffredo, Craig Plummer, Jett Alex, and Christopher Conner. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden.
