Annette Katherine Vaughn, age 46, of Carroll and formerly of Glidden passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Born on September 1, 1961 at Carroll, Iowa she was the daughter of Daniel and Rita (Steffes) Halbur. She grew up in Carroll and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1979. She was married to Lawrence Vaughn on February 21, 1986 at Carroll, Iowa. She was a military wife and the couple lived in Germany, Ft. Hood, Texas, Ft. Carson, Colorado, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, and Glidden before recently moving to Carroll. Annette loved her cats Sugar and Spice.
Surviving are her husband Lawrence Vaughn of Carroll; her mother Rita Halbur of Carroll; her mother-in-law Peg Vaughn of Carroll; a sister Diane Gross and her husband Joe of Carroll; her brother Roger L. Halbur of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister Beverly Lorenz and her husband Roy of Byron, Illinois; a brother Arthur Halbur and his wife Mona of Rockdale, Illinois; a brother Randall Halbur and his wife Patti of Guthrie Center, Iowa; a brother-in-law Thomas Vaughn and his wife Brenda of Glidden; a brother-in-law Robert Vaughn and his wife Donna of Waterloo; and a brother-in-law William Vaughn and his wife Kelly of Nashua, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father, brothers: Gerard, David, and Russell, a nephew Brian Halbur, her father-in-law Thomas L. Vaughn, and a brother-in-law Alan Vaughn.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden with Rev. Joseph Dillinger as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in CARROLL after 5 P.M. on Friday where there will be a Christian wake service held at 7 P.M. by St. Elizabeth Seton Parish. Lector for the Mass will be Roy Lorenz and gift bearers will be Judy Vaughn and Maria Brittey. Casket bearers will be Tom Vaughn, Bob Vaughn, Bill Vaughn, Joe Gross, Randy Halbur, and Chris Anthofer. Honorary casket bearers will be Diane Gross, Brenda Vaughn, Donna Vaughn, Kelly Vaughn, Beverly Lorenz, Patti Halbur, and Mona Halbur. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
