Anita Catherine Carswell, age 82, of Carroll and formerly of Lidderdale died at the Carroll Health Center on April 15, 2011. Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with Pastor William Wiess officiating. Interment will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Organist for the funeral will be Mrs. Agnes Onken and the congregation will sing: Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, My Faith Looks up to Thee. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5PM on Sunday where there will be a prayer service at 7PM. The casket will be moved to the Church at 8: 30 AM on Monday to lie in state until time of the funeral. Casket Beares will be Jimmy Kennebeck, J. D. Kennebeck, Daryl Kohlscheen, Quinn Kohlscheen, Doug Carswell and Dave Kennebeck She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on March 15, 1929 to Jens and Sophia Bahnsen of Hancock, Iowa. Anita grew up in the Hancock- Avoca area and graduated from Avoca High School. Anita was baptized and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church in Avoca. She was married to Daryl Kohlscheen and they resided in the Walnut area with their two children: son Kevin and daughter Kendal. During this time she was active as a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, a Cub Scout den mother and girls 4H leader. She was a member of the Women’s Federated Club and the Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed all music, crafts, sewing, traveling and spending time with her children and their families. In 1976 she married Howard Carswell and they resided in Carroll and Lidderdale. She had formerly been employed at K-Mart, Daily Times Herald, Midwest Vision Centers, and most recently Farner-Bocken Company. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Lidderdale. After the death of her husband Howard in 2006 she moved to Carroll. Surviving are a son Kevin Kohlscheen and his wife Kristine of Omaha, Nebraska; a daughter Kendal Kennebeck of Carroll ; seven grandchildren: Daryl, Quinn, and Amy Kohlscheen of Omaha,and J. D., Jimmy, Leah, Kerry and Kelsie Kennebeck all of Carroll; four great grandchildren: Marissa, Macie, Max and Jayce. Also surviving are two step sons: Douglas Carswell and his wife Ruth of Riverton, Illinois, and Patrick Carswell of Scotsdale, Arizona; six step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a bother in infancy, and her two husbands.
