Angeline “Angie” (Bruns) Hess, age 107, of Westside passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Private family graveside services will be held at the Westside Cemetery near Westside with Pastor Ben Dose of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia officiating. Casket bearers will be Angie’s grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established in Angie’s name and memorials may be sent to Audrey Petersen 305 2nd St. Westside, Iowa 51467.
Born on September 10, 1907 in Hering, Iowa, she was the daughter of Rickie and Anna (Dose) Bruns. She was baptized and confirmed at Wheatland Presbyterian Church near Breda. Angie attended country schools thru the 8th grade and then helped her parents on the family farm. She met her husband Martine Hess at a barn dance. They were married on February 22, 1933 at Wheatland Presbyterian Church. The couple made their home on a farm near Breda where Martine was a hired hand and Angie was a homemaker. To this union was born one daughter Audrey. In 1946, they moved to Arcadia. Angie did babysitting and worked as a cook for the Arcadia school for several years. She enjoyed playing cards and going to dances. Angie was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia where she was active the Ladies Aid and the Fellowship Club. She moved to the Westside Apartments in 1994, then to the Carroll Health Center in 1999.
Angeline is survived by her daughter Audrey Petersen of Westside; six grandchildren: Randy Petersen of Westside, Rick (Linda) Petersen of Denison, Ronald (Donna) Petersen of Carroll, Roxanne (Dale) Nobiling of Council Bluffs, Rodney (Karla) Petersen of Council Bluffs, and Ross Petersen and his special friend Missi of Chipley, Florida; fourteen great grandchildren: Jamie Feauto, Jenni Middleton, Aaron and Nick Petersen, Matt, Tyler, and Brooke Petersen, Stacy Hilligoss, Jerad Nobiling, Nathan, Nicole, and Brandon Petersen, Kory, and Zachary Petersen; nine great great grandchildren: Lauryn, Dylan, and Ashley Feauto, Lynn, Lacey, and Tyler Middleton, Landon and Lily Petersen, and Landon James Petersen; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martine in 1982, three brothers: Pete, Joe, and Jerry Bruns, one sister Christina Rohde and their spouses, a son-in-law Kenneth Petersen in 2010, and a great granddaughter Kristy Petersen in 1999.
