Anastasia "Stacy" Franzwa

     Anastasia “Stacy” Katherine Franzwa, age 77, of Glidden passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.      Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, April 16, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Glidden with Fr. John Gerald as Celebrant.  Lector for the Mass will be John Walsh.  Gift bearer will be Casey Franzwa and Cole O’Bannon. Casket bearers will be Dave McNamara, Johnny Keating, Chris Soyer, Chris Hanewinkel, Tom Weber, and Jason Olberding.  Burial will be in Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.       Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 5:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Christian Wake service held at 6:30 P.M.  The casket will be moved to St. Elizabeth Seton Church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com.      In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Jude Partner in Hope or the Carroll Animal Rescue League which may be left at the funeral home or church.      Born on September 8, 1940 in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of Raymond and Margaret (Lawler) Schramke.  Stacy, as she was affectionately known to most, grew up in St. Louis and graduated from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic High School in 1958.  Following high school, she worked at a hardware store and for Johnny Londoff Chevrolet in St. Louis.  She was married to Sterling “Rusty” Franzwa on November 26, 1960 at the Cathedral of St. Louis.   Rusty and Stacy lived in St. Louis until 1963 when they moved Floissant, MO.  They purchased Nelson’s Hardware in Glidden in 1977 and operated it as Franzwa Hardware for 23 years.  Stacy played a very active role in the business as well as working for Farmers Coop in Glidden for many years.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden and was a very passionate Catholic.  Stacy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.      Stacy is survived by her husband Sterling “Rusty” Franzwa of Glidden; her children: Frederick Franzwa (Sandra) of Shawnee, KS, Michael Franzwa (fiancé Laura O’Bannon and her children: Chase and Cole) of Lenexa, KS, and Stephanie Wright (Andrew) of Bashor, KS; four grandchildren: Michael Nelson of Anamosa, IA, Casey Franzwa of Lenexa, KS, Liberty and Elijah Wright of Bashor, KS; special nieces and nephews: Jim and Linda Wilson, Steve Hanewinkel, Chris and Tish Hanewinkel, Bill and Barb Hanewinkel, Andy Hanewinkel, Bernadette and Tim Oppelt, and Matt Hanewinkel; sisters-in-law Candace Johnson of New York, NY, and Kathy Franzwa of Seattle, WA; and a special adopted daughter, Sarah Vandenbrink.      Stacy was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Margaret Schramke; her mother and father-in-law Fred and Mabel Franzwa; three brothers: Jules, Kevin and Raymond in infancy; a sister Rosemarie Hanewinkel; and a grandson Sterling Franzwa in 2016.
