Amanda B Olsen

Amanda Beatrice Olsen, age 85, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Fr. Kevin Richter officiating.  Casket bearers will be Seth Beyer, Josh Beyer, Alexander Smith, Matt Smith, Steve True, and Kevin McCants.  Burial will be in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, IA.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 – 2 P.M. on Thursday prior to the service.

Amanda was born on September 25, 1935 in Carroll, IA, and she was the daughter of Charles and Clara (Ortner) Geier.  Amanda worked as a waitress following her schooling.  She was married to Paul Beyer in September of 1953.  She was later remarried to William Olsen in 1980. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing cards, gardening and planting flowers, and spending time with her family.

Amanda is survived by her children and their families: son Ronald “Woody” Beyer of Carroll, son Russell Beyer of Carroll, and daughter Victoria Smith (Matt) of Johnston, IA; a daughter-in-law Sharon Beyer of Carroll; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Amanda was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Clara Geier; two brothers: Orville and Alvin Geier; a son Richard; two daughters-in-law: Lois Beyer and Marie Beyer; and her husband William Olsen.
