Alvin “Al” Joseph Molitor was born to John and Christina (Lambertz) Molitor on May 16, 1934, in Lake City, IA.  Al graduated from Lake City High School in 1952, where he played football and ran track.  Al continued playing football and running track at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, where he was later inducted into their Hall of Fame.  After college, Al enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. Al married Jo Ann Mill on July 18, 1956, at St. Jean’s Catholic Church in Sioux City.
