Alice D (Sapp) Miller, age 96, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at home surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral home in Carroll with Pastor Dave Hagen of Carroll First Assembly of God Church officiating. Casket bearers will be Chris Miller, John Schirmbeck, Amy Mohr, Nolan Mohr, Jeff Schirmbeck, and Ron Mohr. Honorary casket bearers will be grandkids, great-grand kids, and great-great grandkids. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Friday prior to the service.
Those in attendance at Alice’s services are asked to abide by Covid – 19 guidelines and facemasks are required at the funeral home.

Alice was born on October 19, 1924 on her family’s farm south of Glidden, and she was the daughter of Ernest and Loretta (Dillon) Sapp. She spent her grade school years in Richland Township South of Glidden where she attended country school. She went to high school in Glidden and Jefferson. She was married to Adolph Schirmbeck on December 3, 1943 in San Francisco, CA where she worked at a dime store until her husband went to sea with the U.S. Navy. Alice moved to Carroll and worked several years in environmental services in Florida, Omaha, and Sergeant Bluff, IA, and at Deluxe Cleaners, the Carroll Out Reach, and RSVP in Carroll. She was later married to Magnus Harold Miller on May 20, 1967 in Denison, IA. She was affiliated with the Carroll First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed embroidery, feeding the squirrels and her four dogs.
Alice is survived by her children daughter Frances “Fran” Satterlee of Carroll, son Larry (Virginia) Schirmbeck of Baltimore, MD, son Lonnie (Linda) Schirmbeck of Warsaw, MO, son Delbert (Karen) Cox of Sioux Falls, SD, son Leo Cox of Madison, WI, and son Martin (Shelly) Miller of Omaha, NE; 16 grandkids, 30 great-grandkids, 23 great-great grandkids, 1 great-grandchild due in April; 3 step- grandkids, 4 step-great grandkids, and 13 step-great-great grandkids.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, and step-son Mike Miller; 4 brothers, 5 sisters, and her husband Magnus Miller.
