Alice Brown

        Alice Marie Brown, age 66, of Carroll passed away at her home on Sunday, May 4, 2014.         Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Johnson as celebrant.  Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 P.M.  and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. by Holy Spirit Parish.  The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of service.  Music for the Mass will be Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir.  Lector for the Mass will be Amy Dunphy and Terry Kasperbauer.  Eucharistic Ministers will be Paula Kasperbauer and Ron Dunphy.  Gift Bearers will be Todd and Sue Dunphy and Dana Dunphy.    Casket bearers will be Colton Dunphy, Doug Steinkamp, Ken Barker, Deserae Sorensen, Jim Brown, Dr. Greg Banks, and Tom Kasperbauer.  An honor guard will be formed at the church by the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.   Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.The family suggests memorials be made to the National Diabetes Association or Special Olympics and may be left at the funeral home or the church.      Born on March 30, 1948 in Carroll, Iowa, she was the daughter of Alfred W. and Rose L. (Kasperbauer) Sondgeroth.  Alice lived in Carroll until she was in the 8th grade when her family moved to Creston.  She graduated from Creston High School in 1966.  Following high school she went to nursing school at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa and became an LPN.  She was married to William Brown on June 15, 1974 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll by Msgr. Lenze.  The couple made their home in Carroll and Alice worked at the Carroll Manor Nursing Home for several years and then St. Anthony Regional Hospital for over 25 years.  She also worked at New Hope Village.  Alice was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and she was a member of R.S.V.P.  She enjoyed watching television, going to rodeos, camping, and spending time with her family and friends.      Alice is survived by her husband Bill of Carroll; a sister Dorothy Dunphy and her husband Ron of Creston, Iowa; a brother-in-law Robert Brown and his wife Kathy of Glidden; and a sister-in-law Bonnie Jensen and her husband Scott of Carroll; a nephew Todd Dunphy and his wife Susan of Creston; a niece-in-law Dana Dunphy; and several cousins.  Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Janice in infancy, and her nephew Tom Dunphy.
