Alfred J. "Bud" Hoffman, age 90, of Coon Rapids passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. Andrew Hoffman as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 3:30 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Annunciation Church at 9:00 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Lector for the Mass will be Kristy Boeckman. Gift bearers will be Alfred's granddaughters. Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Parish with Faye Seidl as organist. Eucharistic Ministers will be Joan Hart and Mary Jo Berning. Casket bearers will be his grandsons: Jonathan Halbur, Matthew Oliver, Jason Oliver, and Bradley Oliver, and nephews: Kenny Hoffman, Rick Hoffman, Robert Hoffman, and Kevin Klocke. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Dedham. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com. Born on September 24, 1924 in Dedham, he was the son of John and Theresa (Zitzlsperger) Hoffman. He grew up on his family's farm northeast of Dedham and attended St. Joseph Catholic School. Following his schooling he worked on his father's farm. He was married to Lois Berning on December 27, 1951 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Breda by Fr. John Hausman. The couple made their home northwest of Coon Rapids where they farmed until 1988. Alfred farmed from 1952 to 1988 and he drove a school bus from 1966 to 1999. Alfred and Lois moved into Coon Rapids in 1988. In retirement he worked for Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities mowing city properties. Alfred was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church since 1952 and the church Men's Club. He enjoyed fishing, walking, and putting together jig saw puzzles. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Alfred is survived by his wife Lois of Coon Rapids; a daughter Patricia Oliver and her husband Mark of Coon Rapids; twins: Diane Halbur of Glidden and Dennis Hoffman and his wife Lois of Coon Rapids; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; a brother Eugene Hoffman and his wife Carol of Carroll; a sister Lorraine Klocke of Carroll; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Hoffman of Dedham, Rita Webker and her husband Merlin of Milford, Lorraine Gehling of Carroll; brothers-in-law: Clarence Berning of Carroll and Leo Berning and his wife Mary Jo of Arcadia; and many nieces and nephews. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Alvin Hoffman and his wife Clara and Louis Hoffman.
