Albert Carl Wenck, age 85, of Lidderdale passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, January 19, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale with Pastor Bill Weiss officiating. Organist for the service will be Mrs. Agnes Onken. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Monday where there will be a prayer service held at 6:30 P.M.. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Lidderdale. The casket will be moved to the church at 12:00 P.M. on Tuesday to lie in state until the time of service. Casket bearers will be Ronald Wenck, John Wenck, Jim Baumhover, David Borkowski, Mark VonAhn, and Bob Lenz. Honorary casket bearers will be Lyle Hein, Elmer Kruse, and Oliver Wenck. A son of Albert and Elsie (Kohnke) Wenck, he was born on August 12, 1924 in Carroll County. He was baptized in 1924 by the Rev. Henry Schmidt and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 10, 1938, by Rev. Rudolph Herrmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Lidderdale. Following the death of his father in 1935 he helped his mother on the family farm. On June 4, 1950 he married Shirley Wurr at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lidderdale. The couple continued to farm and lived on their century farm for 59 years. Albert was active in his church serving several terms as elder, trustee, board of Christian education, taking care of the cemetery grounds, restoring the Immanuel Lutheran school and was a member of the Lutheran Laymen’s League. He was a member of the Old Iron Club and enjoyed horses, cattle sales and restoring old tractors and machinery and displaying them on his farm. Surviving are his wife Shirley of Lidderdale; two children: Karen Wernimont and husband Richard of Lidderdale, and Romayne Wenck and wife Darlene of Glidden; six grandchildren: Nicholas and Bree Wernimont, Kimberly Wernimont, Michael Wernimont, Cody and Jill Wenck, Colette and Claude Heidgerken, and Chance Wenck. Four great grandchildren: Caden and Kassidy Wenck and Hudson and Paisley Heidgerken; and one sister Loretta Kuebler of Lidderdale. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold, and two sisters: Esther and Delores.
