Albert H. Meiners, age 92, of Coon Rapids passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids surrounded by his family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids with Fr. John Gerald as Celebrant. Lector for the Mass will be Jerry Kult. Mass servers will be Easton and Parker Hays. Eucharistic Ministers will be Joan Hart and Kelly Hays. Music for the Mass will be by the Annunciation Choir with Rosemary Riesberg as organist. Gift bearers will be Albert’s great-grandchildren. Casket bearers will be grandsons: David Bass, Ryan Bass, Matthew Meiners, Scott Young, Michael Young, and Aaron Meiners. Burial will be in the Coon Rapids Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 3:30 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to Annunciation Catholic Church at 9:30 A.M. on Monday where visitation will resume until the time of Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on October 11, 1925 on his family’s farm south of Willey, he was the son of Bernard and Catherine (Rotert) Meiners. Albert was raised on the family farm and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. Following his schooling, Albert continued to work on the family farm until his marriage to Frances Berger on May 3, 1950 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids by Fr. Anthofer. Frances and Albert farmed south east of Dedham, east of Willey, and near Viola Township before buying a farm and moving to Coon Rapids in 1960. Albert also worked as a rural mail carrier for the US Post Office for 20 years. In later years, he did lawn mowing for Coon Rapids Municipal Utilities and enjoyed volunteering at Thomas Rest Haven. He was an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church. Albert was a family man and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Farming was his true passion and he continued to operate farm machinery into his 90’s. He also spent many hours shelling walnuts in his spare time and loved supplying them to his family and friends. Albert is survived by two daughters: Doris Bass of Coon Rapids and Linda Young and her husband Les of Madrid, Iowa; three sons: Donald Meiners and his wife Joyce of Coon Rapids, Thomas Meiners of Coon Rapids and his special friend Jeanne Meaike of Audubon, and Joseph Meiners and his wife Rhonda of Sigourney, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; two brothers: Bernard Meiners and his wife Marita of Coon Rapids and Anthony Meiners and his wife Colleen of Carroll; two sisters: Catherine Wittrock and her husband Clarence of Carroll and Marcella Naberhaus of Carroll; his in-laws: Bernice Bluml of Carroll; Edmund “Butch” Berger and his wife LaVonne of Lidderdale; and Dorothy Berger of Lohrville; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Albert was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Frances Meiners on July 17, 2014; two infant daughters: Diane and JoAnn; his parents Bernard and Catherine Meiners; his mother and father-in-law George and Theresia Berger; his brother John Meiners and his wife Margaret; a granddaughter-in-law Sheri Meiners; a son-in-law Darrell “Shorty” Bass; in-laws: Joseph Berger and his wife Viola, Alvin Berger, Raymond Berger and his wife Virginia, Norbert Naberhaus, Dolores Meiners, Marie Riesberg and her husband William, Leona Seidl and her husband Rubert, Lucille Berger, and Elmer Bluml.
