Agatha E. Sailer, age 83, of Bagley passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bayard with Fr. Mike Peters as Celebrant assisted by Deacon Dick Ziller. Lector for the Mass will be Julie Williamson. Gift Bearers will be Agatha’s granddaughters. Eucharistic Ministers Diane and Allen Vonnahme. Casket bearers will be Agatha’s grandsons. Burial will in Highland Cemetery near Bayard. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids after 3:30 P.M. on Monday where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on September 22, 1932 near Arcadia, IA, Agatha was the daughter of Frank and Katherine (Anstoeter) Ocken. Aggie, as she was known to many, grew up on her family’s farm north of Arcadia and attended St. John’s School. After spending some years on the family farm, she worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll from 1956 – 1961. Agatha was married to Paul Sailer on September 2, 1961 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Arcadia with her uncle, Fr. Anton Ocken, as Celebrant. The couple farmed near Schleswig for several years. In 1966 they moved to a farm near Bayard and in 1968 to a farm near Bagley. After her children were raised, Agatha worked at the Woodward State Hospital in Woodward retiring in 1996. She enjoyed cooking, watching television, reading, music, and dancing in her younger years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. Agatha is survived by her husband Paul Sailer of 54 years of Bagley; a daughter Nancy Pardun (Mike) of Denison; four sons: Tom Sailer (Mary) of Ames, Mike Sailer (Shellie) of Lenexa, KS, Frank Sailer (Barb) of Manchester, IA, and Gary Sailer (Jill) of Overland Park, KS; twelve grandchildren; brother Francis Ocken (Ann) of Omaha, sister Charlotte Ocken of Omaha; two sisters-in-law: Loretta Bernholtz of Carroll and Lillian Stork of Anita, IA; two brothers-in-law: Leonard Sailer (Mary) of Manning and Richard Sailer of Schleswig; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Agatha was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Reineldis Venner and Dolores Reisselman, two brothers: Norbert and Wilfred Ocken, and a brother-in-law Clarence Sailer.
