Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 9, 2012 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Pastor Rick Hamilton officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Sunday. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Cemetery near Glidden. Honorary casket bearers will be Craig’s nieces and nephews. Born on March 4, 1954 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Calvin and Arlene (Douglas) Edwards. Craig was a lifelong resident of Carroll and graduated from Carroll High School in 1972. After graduation he was employed by the Carroll Public Schools for 37 years retiring in 2009. An interesting fact is that when Craig retired from the school, between he and his parents, the Edward’s family had contributed 93 years of service to the Carroll Public School System. An accomplishment few families have achieved. On March 3, 1979, Craig married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Hike. Their wedding took place during an epic blizzard that closed roads and stranded guests for two days. Craig was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed his family and friends. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Craig enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching sports and old western movies. He also loved the Iowa Hawkeyes. Craig’s “larger than life” personality and his sweet disposition will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Craig is survived by his wife Kathy of Carroll; a son Christopher and his wife Mari of Maple River; a son William and his fiancé Falon of Lake City; a daughter Tanya and her fiancé Mark of Carroll; eight grandchildren; a brother Ron Edwards and his wife Jean of Ankeny; a sister Sharon Fane of Newton; his mother-in-law Pat Stout of Ralston; and several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Ferman Stout, a brother-in-law Danny Fane, a sister-in-law Kim Bird, and a nephew Adrian Hike who gave his life in service to his country.
