Ila T. Farrell

Ila T. Farrell, age 95, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey of the First United Methodist Church in Carroll officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Tom Rogers, Philip Rogers, Allen Siemer, and Tony Farrell. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Iowa Hospice.

Born on March 18, 1917 at Arion, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Talcott) Allen. Ila grew up in Arion and graduated from high school in LeGrande, Iowa in 1936. Following high school she worked various jobs including North Star Grocery Store which she later owned, J.C. Penny, Wilkie Drug Store, Carroll Apothecary, and the Department of Human Services. She was married to Raymond Siemer in 1932 and the couple later divorced. She married Lynn E. Farrell on May 24, 1939 in Carroll. Ila cherished her family and thoroughly enjoyed every moment spent with them. She enjoyed baking, going for long walks, and tending to her flowers.

Ila is survived by a son Allen Siemer and his wife Karen of Yuma, Arizona; a daughter Sharon Rogers and her husband Tom of Carroll; a son Tony Farrell and his wife Anne of Plymouth, Mass; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and two sisters: Jean Dustin of Independence, Missouri, and Inez McCaslen of Sioux City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Linda Farrell, two sisters: Florence Nelson and Alice Winans, and a brother John Allen.
